"B-Sharp" Summer Music Academy
Procedures, Rules and Regulations

Please read carefully and acknowledge below

The Administration, Faculty and Staff of the B-Sharp Summer Music Academy will provide the students a safe musical experience this summer. In order for optimal learning to take place during the five weeks the academy will be in session, it will be of utmost importance for each student to adhere to the following rules and regulations.

  1. Cell Phones and Other Electronic Equipment

    • Cell phones and other electronic equipment are not to be used during class periods, during the morning devotion, changing classes, or whenever a teacher is giving instruction to the entire group.

    • It is strongly recommended that students leave their cell phones and other electronics home during the day.

    • The Administration, Faculty and Staff of B-Sharp will not be responsible for any students cell phone or other electronic equipment that breaks is lost, or is stolen while the student is in attendance, regardless of the circumstance.

  2. Fighting, Hitting, Aggressive Pushing, Inappropriate Touching, or Aggressive Behavior

    • Fighting will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Students engaged in fighting will be immediately expelled from B-Sharp and parents or guardians of the students will not be eligible for a refund.

    • Hitting or aggressive pushing will not be tolerated. Students who hit or aggressively push another student will be reprimanded, will receive a warning, and the parents will be notified. A student who receives three warnings for the same offence will be expelled. The parents or guardians of a student who is expelled for hitting or aggressive pushing a student will not be eligible for a refund.

    • Inappropriate touching will not be tolerated. A student who inappropriately touches another student will be reprimanded, will receive a warning, and the parents will be notified. A student who receives three warnings for the same offence will be expelled. The parents or guardians of a student who is expelled for inappropriate touching will not be eligible for a refund.

    • Aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. A student who displays aggressive behavior toward a student, an administrator, teacher, or staff person will be reprimanded, will receive a warning, and the parents will be notified. A student who receives three warnings for the same or similar behavior will be expelled. The parents or guardians of a student who is expelled for aggressive behavior will not be eligible for a refund. Appropriate Dress Dressing appropriately is expected from the students who attend B-Sharp.

  3. Appropriate dress includes the following:

    • Young men – slacks, jeans, or short pants; polo shirts or short sleeve T-shirts; tennis shoes, regular laced shoes, loafers, or sandals

    • Young ladies – slacks, jeans or short pants; blouses, polo shirts or short sleeve T-shirts; tennis shoes, regular laced shoes, loafers, or sandals.

  4. Dress code

    Inappropriate Dress

    • Young men – pants or jeans worn below the waist; A-shirt style undershirts; hats worn anytime while in the camp; flip-flops.

    • Young ladies – Daisy Duke’s style short-shorts; A-shirt style undershirts; blouses or t-shirts or tops that reveal cleavage; flip-flops

    Inappropriate language

    Cursing and/or swearing will not be tolerated anywhere or at anytime at B-Sharp. The use of curse words is disrespectful and is not to be used while in class, while walking to and from class, while in the multipurpose room during breakfast and lunch, or during the morning devotions. All students are expected to be respectful at all times and refrain from using any curse words while at B-Sharp.

  5. Classroom/Building Behavior

    • Running: Students are not allowed to run at any time in the building for any reason. Students are expected to walk wherever they are going during the day.

    • Class Schedules: Students are expected to adhere to their classroom schedules and report to their class on time and ready to learn.

    • Talking: Students are not allowed to talk while in class, in morning devotion, or during dance class except when called upon to do so by the teacher. The student is expected to use their “inside voice” so instructors may be heard during all activities when instructors or staff members are speaking to the group

    • Laughing: No student is expected to laugh at any student for any reason, particularly when performing in front of a group or in front of the class.

  6. Restroom usage

    Students will not assemble in the bathrooms. If a student needs to use the restroom he or she must ask the teacher. Only one student may leave the class at a time, with permission. During lunch, only two students may leave the multipurpose room at a time. Students will not be allowed to congregate in the restrooms or in the hallway near the restrooms during the lunch hour. Students will need permission to leave the multipurpose room during the lunch hour to use the restrooms. Multiple trips to the restroom will not be permitted unless there is a medical reason that requires frequent bathroom trips.

  7. Vending Machines

    The vending machines may not be used at any time except during lunchtime and dismissal. A faculty or a staff member must give a student permission to go to the vending area for snacks.

  8. Breakfast and Lunch regulations

    B-Sharp will provide free breakfast and lunch for every student. However, students may bring their own food. Students will not be allowed to use the microwave, and faculty or staff members will not be allowed to heat food in the microwave for students. Lunches that require refrigeration must be given to a staff member, and students will ask the staff member to retrieve their lunch for them at lunchtime. Under no circumstances will students be allowed to be in the kitchen area. Students who do not eat the breakfast or lunch provided by B-Sharp should put their uneaten food on the “share table.” Students will be allowed to get seconds after everyone else has eaten.

  9. Leaving The Building

    Students are not allowed to leave the building at any time or for any reason, unless supervised by a faculty member or a staff member. A student will only be allowed to leave the building under the following conditions:

    • If the parent comes to B-Sharp before 2pm and physically signs the student out.

    • If written consent is presented to Ms. Lamkin by the parent requesting that the student be allowed to leave with a specific person named in the request.

    No one except the parent will be allowed to sign a student out during the day or at dismissal at 2pm. If the parent wants another person to sign a student out at anytime, including dismissal, that person’s name must be given to Ms. Lamkin in advance. The person must present ID at the time the student is being signed out.

  10. Emergencies

    In the case of an emergency, students are to go to the nearest teacher, administrator, or staff person and follow the instructions given by that person. Under no circumstances should any student attempt to leave the building during an emergency unless under the supervision of a teacher, staff member or administrator.

  11. Congeniality

    It is expected that all students be friendly and helpful toward one another, and be willing to help each other whenever help is needed. In B-Sharp, we expect that students interact with one another in harmony. People who have the quality of congeniality have a gift for getting along with others. The administration, faculty and staff expect each student will use that gift to make this years B-Sharp Summer Music Enrichment Academy experience the most pleasant and musically rewarding summer experience you will have.

If everyone follows these procedures, rules and regulations, your experience at B-Sharp Summer Music Enrichment Academy will be a safe and a musically enjoyable one.
